UPDATE: PDP Crisis Continues As Confusion Trails Ayu’s Suspension:

Following a misunderstanding over Dr. Iyorchia Ayu’s continued party leadership, there is still internal strife in the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The party had begun disciplining several well-known party members whom it accused of anti-party acts after the party’s defeat in the most recent general elections.

But, in a twist two days ago, Ayu himself was suspended by his local Igyorov Council Ward in Benue State, while a judge in Makurdi yesterday prevented him from presenting himself as the national chairman of the party. He has vowed to vacate the order.

But further drama was to surface yesterday after the Igyorov Council Ward executives of the party rejected the suspension letter, alleging their signatures had been faked, and reposing trust in Ayu’s chairmanship of the party.

A Makurdi High Court presided over by Judge Wilfred Kpochi has granted an order of interim injunction prohibiting Dr. Iyorchia Ayu from parading himself as the national chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) after he was suspended by his local ward in Benue State.

In addition, the plaintiff, Engr. Conrad Utaan, requested that Ayu, the first defendant, be barred from representing himself as the party’s national chairman while the court case is being heard and decided.
