Mohammed Kudus speaks out on future after Erik ten Hag adds him to Man United transfer wishlist

Mohammed Kudus says he is focused on helping Ajax defend the Eredivisie title and is open to signing a contract extension despite increasing links with a move to Manchester United. The Manchester Evening News revealed last month that the Ghanaian is of interest to Ten Hag, who is also keeping tabs on Harry Kane, Napoli striker Victor Osimhen and Benfica attacker Goncalo Ramos. There are also reports that United are targeting a midfielder alongside a goal-getter this summer.

The 22-year-old Ghanaian has been in terrific form of late, playing up front for Ajax in a false nine role. He previously played under United manager Erik ten Hag at Ajax, and the Dutchman has made it clear to his superiors that Kudus is a player he’d love to work with again. A January move was even considered by United before they moved to sign Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley, but their interest in Kudus remains clear and present. Sources have confirmed that the Red Devils havebeen extensively scouting him in 2023, at a time when he’s hit a real purple patch of form.

Asked about his future and the possibility of extending his stay in Amsterdam, Kudus told De Telegraaf: ‘I am very happy at Ajax at the moment, but I will be even happier if we win the double. ‘Why wouldn’t I want to renew? I play and develop well. Now it’s about negotiation and valuation. ‘When the time is right, we’ll see how it goes. But that will have to be conducted with my agent. I want to focus entirely on the title race.’
