JUST IN: Peter Obi finally commiserates with Mohbad’s family hours after being dragged by Reno Omokri
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has commiserated with the family of Nigerian rapper Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
Mohbad died on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, and has been buried in Ikorodu, Lagos.
His death has sparked outrage among young people in Nigeria, especially after videos of the artiste being bullied by his former music label bosses surfaced on social media.
Obi described the death of the promising artiste as painful, urging the government and security agencies to probe the circumstances leading to his death.
He said; ”On behalf of my family, I condole with the mother and entire family of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, Mohbad, over his painful demise. I know how difficult it is for parents to lose a child, especially one with such a promising future as his.
”I urge the government and the security agencies to probe the circumstances that led to his untimely demise and to leave no stone unturned in unravelling the circumstances surrounding his death.
”With his demise, the nation has lost a promising talent in our growing music and entertainment industry.
”I pray God to grant him eternal rest and grant his parents, family, and teeming fans the fortitude to bear his irreplaceable loss.”
Obi’s condolence message comes after the former presidential aide Reno Omokri lambasted him and the Labour Party governorship candidate in Lagos state, Gbadebo Rhodes Vivor for keeping silent over the musician’s death.
Omokri said Rhodes Vivor hadn’t said anything since the death of Mohbad but would have if it was during the election.
He added that Rhodes Vivor visited the Akere Spare Parts Market after it was burnt and donated money to victims.
Omokri wrote: “No matter what you say about Governor Sanwoolu, at least he is working with the Lagos State Police Command to get justice for MohBad. His office and staff are facilitating the investigation.
“Where is Gbadebo Rhodes Vivor in all of these? If a dog had given birth to puppies during the campaign period, GRV and Peter Obi would have gone there with prominent Obidients to celebrate with the dog. Did they not visit Akere Spare Parts Market and donate money to victims? Did GRV not visit hospitals? Did he not go to churches to shake hands and smile? But now that Mohbad needs them, where are they? Election na your mate?”
