Arsenal defender William Saliba was forced off injured during their clash against Sporting CP in the Europa league.

The Gunners were eliminated out of the competition by Sporting Lisbon on penalties. William Saliba is set to miss Arsenal’s premier league clash against Crystal Palace after failing a fitness test ahead of the match. He will also withdraw from international duty after being selected in the France squad by Didier Deschamps.

Tomiyasu will also miss the match through injury and Rob Holding could form a defensive partnership with Gabriel Magalheas against Crystal Palace. Arsenal have been handed a fitness boost ahead of today’s match against Crystal Palace with Leandro Trossard and Oleksandr Zinchenko both expected to be fit.

The Gunners have a chance to go eight points clear at the top of the Premier League if they can defeat Crystal Palace today. They will be looking to bounce back from their Europa League exit and extend their lead at the top of the Premier League.

A report from French outlet RMC Sport stated: “William Saliba (Arsenal) was injured Thursday evening in the Europa League. The central defender gave up his place in the 21st minute.

“The news is not good in view of the exams passed by the player, who suffers from the back. He will not be in the group that will face Crystal Palace this Sunday.”

Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Trossard are the forwards while Odegaard, Partey and Xhaka are the midfielders. Ben White, Rob Holding, Magalheas and Oleksandr Zinchenko are the defenders while Aaron Ramsdale is the Goalkeeper.

William Saliba is expected to be out for some weeks and his return date remains unclear. The Gunners currently sits first on the premier league table and they can’t afford to lose any points on the premier league table. Manchester City are just five points behind Arsenal on the premier league table.
