Guinea Bissau defeated the Super Eagles of Nigeria despite having the prolific Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, on the pitch for the entire 90 minutes.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria took a more composed and in-charge approach to the game in the first 15 minutes, but things turned in Guinea Bissau’s favor around the 20-minute mark.

In the 29th minute, Mama Baldé was located by a long pass, and the pace forward capitalized on the opportunity after the long pass caught the Super Eagles defense off guard. He maneuvered the ball between the legs of Francis Uzoho, the goalie, who had no chance.

The Super Eagles attempted to breach their opponents’ defense for the first 45 minutes without success, therefore the goal was crucial.

With their counterattacking strategies in the second half, Guinea Bissau posed a greater threat to the Super Eagles’ defense.

The Nigerian players, on the other hand, could not provide Victor Osimhen with enough passes for him to be able to make a difference.

Samuel Chukwueze and replacement Paul Onuachu had the greatest chances for Nigeria in the game, but they were unable to capitalize on them.

Guinea Bissau defeated Nigeria for the first game ever after 90 minutes and an additional five minutes of play.

The Super Eagles will attempt to defeat Guinea Bissau in the second leg, which will begin at 5 PM on Monday, March 27. To have a chance of attending the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, the Nigerian team must win the match.

With seven points from three games, Guinea-Bissau is now leading Group A, followed by Nigeria with six points from the same number of games.
