Edo: LP candidate appeal to Godwin Obaseki on council elections
According to reports coming from VANGUARD, ahead of the coming local government election in Edo State, the candidate of the Labour Party (LP) for Ovia North East local government area, Usunobun Omoregie has appealed to the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission, (EDSIEC) and the state governor, Godwin Obaseki to assure a level playing field for all aspirants regardless of party affiliations. The report has it that speaking to newsmen in Benin City on Thursday, Omoregie said his call became essential because of knowledge in numerous states across the state where state governors seemingly alter the process to guarantee that their preferred candidates come out as winners. In the report, he called for the granting of freedom to local government areas as the third class of government, an improvement he said would fast-pace “growth, responsibility, and good administration at the grass-root level” putting in that if elected into office, he would transform the health sector and special attention given to education, farming, and security.
“I am aware that before now local government election results were written by the state administration but this time around I understand that the government of today needs to know that power belongs to the people and must allow a free and fair poll”, he said. Continue Reading>>>
“The people should be permitted to elect who they want. I am very certain that the people want change and want to elect aspirants that are available with the competence to serve. I wish the present administration of the state will allow the will of the people to prevail.
“I am utilizing this chance to appeal to them to enable the vote of the people to count. We should work for a new Nigeria and a better society for our children”, he added.
