23-year-old woman with 42 kids says it’s not easy

A young mum has spoken out about the realities of having 42 children to take care of.

Now, I don’t know about you, but I can barely look after myself and my dog, let alone having a human baby to take care of – so I can’t even begin to imagine the willpower and determination it must take to not only raise one, but a whopping 42 children.

TikToker Tusa has since taken to the platform to open up about the realities of living with so many children and how she came to have so many under her care.

According to Tusa, all of her 42 children have ‘different stories’.

“Some were street kids, abandoned babies, orphans, teen mums who’ve been abandoned as well and children with disabilities who don’t have anywhere else to go,” she explains.

As well as each child having their own individual story, the day-to-day life of looking after 42 children is complex.

As well as having to eat with her children in rounds, waking up at 4:00am to prepare meals – imagine having to cook for 42 people – on her TikTok, Tusa reveals that some children have their own morning routines she has to help them with.

Linly requires a medical check-up every morning because she’s pregnant, as well as a bath, counselling session and prayer. Kondwani requires help with his movement – videoed being carried and supported by one of his brothers.

Tusa also notes that it’s ‘not easy’ because of the ‘different personalities’ and how some of the children ‘suffer from depression’ too.

“You have to be a mother, a sister, a friend and a counsellor,” she explains.

Thankfully, Tusa also has around 25 other employees helping her at You Are Not Alone (YANA).

However, there is a waiting list of children who still need the non-profit organisation’s help, as unfortunately there’s only a limited space in Tusa’s home.

She hopes to build hostels for the orphanage to accommodate more children who have nowhere else to go.

Tusa resolved: “When you’re doing something with passion, you just keep moving, even if it gets hard. You keep on doing it.

“For me I have seen so many days which were so dark for me, sometimes I feel like I’m not doing the right thing or what I was born for. So I’ve had those moments, but here we are, we’re moving one step at a time.”

YANA has set up a GoFundMe fundraiser to help expand the orphanage and support even more children.
